Shoulder Arthroplasty Workshop – BOTP Trainees
At the start of the Shoulder Module, BOTP trainees attended an excellent hands-on learning session at the Knowledge Hub, Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, supported by Stryker Upper Extremities.
We were delighted to welcome guest speaker Mustafa Rashid, who delivered an engaging session on shoulder arthroplasty, including case discussions and practical insights.
The workshop provided trainees with valuable experience in:
Surgical planning using Blueprint software
Reverse shoulder arthroplasty techniques
It was a highly educational day focused on developing confidence, technical skills, and real-world application in shoulder replacement surgery.
BOTP trainees recently attended a Shoulder Arthroscopy Lab Day at the Smith+Nephew Medical Education facility in London. The session provided an excellent opportunity for trainees to develop their skills using cadaveric specimens and simulation in a dedicated surgical training environment.
The day focused on practical learning in shoulder arthroscopy, encouraging discussion, collaboration, and hands-on experience to complement clinical training.
Many thanks to Mr Daniel Thurston and Kashif Memon for their expert teaching and sharing valuable practical insights. We are also grateful to the Smith+Nephew Medical Education team, including Grant Gibbs, Sam Kirby, Tom Holdsworth, Robert John, and Rhys Jones, for their support in delivering this excellent training day.
